Las Palmas is a sprawling family residence that takes firm cues from the timeless resonance of the Palm Springs mid-century design movement. Nestled within the undulating landscape of the Northern Rivers Region on Australia’s east coast, the home is a culmination of modernist design principles.

Between its long unbroken roofline and the burnished concrete floors extending from interior to exterior, the home is a crisp linear pavilion that seamlessly integrates into the surrounding rural landscape.

In 2019, Geostone held a competition to find the best use of Geostone in Australia. Salt Construction’s home came out on top and we caught up with winners Shaun and Emma who took time to tell us what they love about their home.

Why did you utilise concrete as the signature design material for your house?

Shaun:
I have always loved concrete and the elements it offers, the hardness, sleeked finish and the overall seamlessness and continuity that it gives the home

Emma:
