Coloured concrete allows you to combine aesthetic design with practical durability. It allows you to move beyond traditional grey concrete to create distinctive and beautiful spaces, making it a great choice for coloured pathways, internal floors, driveways, precast panels and concrete furniture. Geostone Coloured Concrete is integrally coloured using pigments that are weather resistant, UV Light stable and alkali stable, made for lasting performance in Australian conditions. Geostone’s coloured concrete can be finished in a range of styles to suit any project — from smooth and polished to textured or natural. Each finish brings out the colour in a unique way, creating tones that range from soft and subtle to rich and bold. Whatever the look, the result is always timeless, durable and distinctly Geostone.
Coloured Concrete can be finished in many different ways to achieve a variety of different looks to suit any project. Common coloured concrete finishes include trowelled, broom or sandblasted. The applied finish influences the resulting concrete colour. For example, broom finishes may produce a lighter finish than a trowelled.
A smooth surface finish by repeatedly dragging the flat, steel blade of a hand or mechanical trowel across the surface after the concrete has been initially levelled with a screed.
A textured concrete surface created by dragging a stiff-bristled broom across partially set concrete to create parallel lines, providing better slip resistance than a troweled surface. Ideal for footpaths.
Sandblasting can be used to reveal the stones in a concrete mix that has set by using a high-pressure stream of abrasive material. This is often used to create individual designs and finishes on concrete surfaces. It is recommended that a product from our ‘exposed’ range be chosen for this purpose – colours from our Coloured Concrete range can be added to those products.
The colour you choose can influence both the comfort and sustainability of your space. Each colour interacts with natural light differently. Darker colours offer a rich, intense finish but absorb more sunlight and heat, creating a warmer surface. Lighter shades reflect more light and help keep surfaces cooler under the sun. With key performance metrics such as SRI (Solar Reflectance Index) and LRV (Light Reflectance Value) available, decision-makers are equipped to make informed, data-driven choices that to help you make the right design choices.

Architects specifying Geostone should reference the desired Geostone Colour and finish (broom, sandblasted, trowelled etc) within their project documentation. Specifications should also detail the required compressive strength. Example: Holcim Geostone Coloured Concrete – Soapstone – 32MPa – broom finish.
