Gordon Park Renovation

In the heart of South East Queensland, this stunning architectural renovation breathes new life into a classic 1930s residence. The project sought to honor the home’s historical roots while introducing a clean, sophisticated modernism. Central to this transformation was the selection of Geostone Capri polished concrete floor which anchors the home’s airy aesthetic.

Part of our curated South East Queensland designer collection, the Capri mix is defined by its premium regionally sourced ivory aggregates and crisp white cement. In this Gordon Park home, Capri has been polished to a mirror-like glow, reflecting the abundant Queensland light.

This project was built by Soza Projects with interior curation by Connors & Co. Geostone Capri was placed by King Concrete Co and polished by  Coulson Concrete Finishes. Photos were captured by YE Media.

Treelight House

Treelight House reads as an original Edwardian from the street, but beyond its restored period facade is a thoughtful renovation by Laura Hoare, owner and principal architect of Laura Vivian Architecture, who lives there with her young family. “The ambition wasn’t to replicate the past, but to create a dialogue between old and new – where each part is clearly defined, yet sits in harmony with the other”, says Laura.

A restrained yet robust material palette, which includes polished concrete and brick, ensures enduring appeal, and a calm backdrop to suit busy family life. ‘The last thing we wanted was to feel precious about how the kids use the house,’ she says.

Geostone Calypso in a polished finish was selected for the internal floors, with its warm white tones ensuring spatial clarity, material contrast and light-filled volume. Calypso was also used in an exposed finish for the external front facing driveway.

Pymble House

Nestled 30 minutes north of Sydney, stands the beautifully built Pymble House – a project that showcases a stunning display of Geostone concrete. The seamless blend of off-form architectural concrete and polished concrete floors creates a sense of sophistication and elegance, while the rainforest like surroundings adds a touch of calm and serenity to the space.

The polished concrete floors feature Geostone’s Tiwi Polished/Honed mix, which was installed by our own Approved Installer Saynammour. This combined with the off-form architectural concrete walls are a defining feature of the home, adding a sleek and industrial feel to the project.

Ultimately, the blend of darker furnishings, building materials like wood and stone, combined with the concrete create a harmonious balance, making this home a true masterpiece of modern architecture.

The Hawthorn Project

Where Architecture meets Engineering…

This incredible project heroes bold off-form Architectural Grey concrete which compliments beautiful timbers and encapsulates natural light to provide a warm and stunning environment. Perfection was sought with seamless junctions, crisp and minimal transitions, derived solely from the use of natural and honest materials.

This award winning design was made a reality by master builder Jorant, who brought concept to life from the budding dreams of Architect Clinton Murray and their clients. The Architectural Grey mix used throughout the house is no ordinary concrete, in order to achieve both the structural and aesthetic requirement for the design, Holcim’s Agilia was used throughout. Agilia is a self leveling and self compacting concrete that assists in creating complex off form finishes which are found throughout the entire Hawthorn Project.

The home features an incredibly diverse array of concrete from suspended slabs, walls, free standing benches, in situ single pour suspended vanities and basins even, acute angled edges and concealed rebates for glass and tracks.

This project’s success and finish along with applied cutting-edge pouring techniques earned Jorant ‘Winner of the 2021 Master Builders Award’ as well as a special commendation award.
